State Legislators Visit BR (12/5/11)
BR hosted a legislative “Meet and Greet” forum with industry experts and area legislators at our office in November. The purpose of the meeting was to address concerns of the industry, build awareness with the lack of roads and infrastructure funding, and share the benefits of asphalt.
In attendance were Senator James Metzen, Representatives Joe Atkins and Rick Hansen, and the Chair of the House Transportation Committee, Mike Beard. Others present included engineers from the cities of Bloomington (Julie Long) and Eagan (Russ Matthys), Hennepin County Engineer (Jerry Mortenson) and Mendota Heights Mayor (Sandra Krebsbach) and Public Works Director (John Mazzitello).
Also in attendance representing the industry were Rich Wolters, Executive Director of MAPA (the Minnesota Asphalt Pavement Association) and James Wafler, lobbyist of MAPA. Representing BR were Kent Peterson, John Kittleson, Dusty Ordorff, and estimators Wayne Olson and Anthony Koop.
